About this Course

The Pre-Marriage Course is a series of five sessions to help engaged couples or those exploring the possibility of marriage, build strong foundations for their future together. Nicky and Sila Lee, authors of The Marriage Book, developed The Pre-Marriage Course to help couples invest in their relationship for a lasting marriage. Over five sessions, the course will help you to learn to communicate well, understand and appreciate your differences, and prepare for potential challenges. The Pre-Marriage Course is for couples who are exploring the idea of getting married and for those who are already engaged. It’s designed for those who want to give their marriage the best possible start, whether they’re exploring marriage for the first time or have been married before. The course is based on Christian principles but designed for all couples with or without a church background. You do not need to be getting married in a church to come on the course.

Eddie and May first met at a Hope Church working adults conference. And, as they say, the rest was history. They have been married for over eleven years. Eddie serves in the welcome team, children’s ministry (Hope Kidz), and leads the intercessory prayer ministry. He is passionate about discipling men to be men of God. May oversees the service outreach and operations, as well as the missions department. She is passionate about seeing the Kingdom of God extended. Together, they enjoy watching action movies, eating yummy foods, and achieving running goals together.

  • Do I need to attend Hope Church Brisbane to enrol in this course?

    At this stage, this course is open to couples who are regularly attending Hope Church Brisbane, so that we can provide ongoing pastoral care and support throughout the journey. If you are not currently attending Hope Church Brisbane but would like to enquire about joining the course, please email us at [email protected] with your details, and our team will be in touch with you directly.

  • Where can I access this course?

    The Alpha Pre-Marriage Course will be conducted via our Next Steps Academy online course platform, Thinkific. The first four sessions are done virtually via Zoom (links will be available via Thinkific and emailed to registrants). You will need access to internet and Zoom on a computer/smartphone. The final session will be done in-person (Hope Church Brisbane, 204 Sherbrooke Rd, Willawong QLD 4110)

  • Can I register on behalf of me and my partner?

    No. Each participant is required to have their own individual registration. After clicking 'Enrol Now,' you’ll be redirected to our registration and payment portal. Once you’ve completed your registration, please make sure to start the course and fill out the Pre-Course Survey. In the survey, kindly provide your partner's name before Session 1.

  • What if we’re unable to attend some sessions live?

    We strongly encourage couples to attend as many live sessions as possible, especially the final in-person session (we would love the opportunity to meet you face-to-face!). If you’re unable to attend a particular session, we encourage you to go through the lesson together during the week as soon as you’re able. A key part of each session is the conversation between you as a couple. If one partner is unable to attend live, we ask that you find another time to complete the lesson together. Perhaps even setting it aside as a special date night.

  • What do I need to bring to the course?

    Upon registering, you’ll be able to download the Alpha Pre-Marriage Course Journal (digital copy). If you prefer a printed copy, simply email us, and we’ll arrange for one to be delivered to you. Additionally, an optional hardcover journal is available for purchase through the registration page.
